Sofia Synagogue

Secular Jewish music can be heard in the neighborhood, such as this performance of “Hava Nagila” on keyboard, recorded near the synagogue during an outdoor party in the early evening of Sept. 5th, 2021, just before the start of Rosh Hashanah.

A recording of Psalm 29 as sung for the Friday evening prayer can be found here. Prescriptions against work prevent the recording of prayers inside the synagogue during Shabbat, and unlike the other houses of worship featured here the sounds of Jewish worship are not audible outside of the synagogue, but many more historical recordings from rabbis and cantors of the Sofia Synagogue are available by searching for the keyword “Sofia” on the parent site (zemirot.org).
